Students are granted access to the online classroom and associated learning resources for a period of 3 months (12 weeks) from the date of receipt of the username and password, or, until the course has been completed.

This course is self-paced. You can complete the activities in any order that you like. You can also choose to focus on the activities that cover the subject areas that you need to practice, as completion of all items is not required.

 

Program Outline

Learning Objectives

By the end of this program, students will: 

  • Practice and learn how to correctly respond to every essay and letter question type used on the IELTS exam.
  • Practice and understand how to approach every task type on the listening and reading sections  used on the IELTS exam.
  • Improve their use of advanced vocabulary related to common IELTS themes.
  • Improve their use of advanced grammar features in order to vary tense and sentence structure and convey precise meaning.
  • Complete a mock exam and numerous practice activities under realistic exam conditions.

 

Unit 1: Communication 

  • Exam tasks: Y/N/NG, short answer.
  • Langauge: Passive voice.

Unit 2: A Healthy Diet

  • Exam tasks: Speaking introduction, note completion , writing task 1, pro/con essay.
  • Langauge: prepositions, comparatives-superlatives, adverbs of degree.

Unit 3: Attractions

  • Exam tasks: Writing task 1, problem/solution essay, two-way discussion, individual long turn.
  • Language: cause-purpose-result phrases, adjectives ending in -ed and -ing , word stress, using synonyms.

Unit 4: Education

  • Exam tasks: Multiple choice, individual long turn.
  • Language: Present tense.

Unit 5: History

  • Exam tasks: Individual long turn, essays, map completion.
  • Language: International phonetic alphabet, past tense, simple past vs. present perfect.

Unit 6: Work

  • Exam tasks: Flow chart, Two way discussion, individual long turn, letter and essay writing.
  • Language: Colloquial language, future tense, future intentions.

Unit 7: Advertising

  • Exam tasks: Matching headings, letter and essay writing, matching, individual long turn.
  • Language: stress, rhythm, and pausing, relative clauses.

Unit 8: Leisure

  • Exam tasks: Table completion, sentence completion, letter introduction and interview.
  • Language: Future plans, sentence structure, punctuation, vowel length.

Unit 9: Environment

  • Exam tasks: Summary completion, problem/solution essay, note completion, table completion.
  • Language: Referencing, countable/uncountable nouns.

Unit 10: Accomodaton

  • Exam tasks: Form completion, individual long term, agree/disagree essay.
  • Language: Gerunds vs. infinitives, prefixes/suffixes.

Unit 11: Animals and Nature

  • Exam tasks: Fill in the blank, discussion and advantage/disadvantage essay.
  • Language: subordinating conjunctions, compound nouns, articles, spelling.

Unit 12: Sports

  • Exam tasks: Table completion, letter writing, matching features, two way discussion.
  • Language: Play, do, and go, modals of advice.

Unit 13: Making Decisions

  • Exam tasks: Matching information, two way discussion, essay and letter writing.
  • Language: Adverb-adjective collocations, conditionals.

Unit 14: Colour

  • Exam tasks: Two part essay, gap-fill, writing and listening practice test.
  • Language: Linking words, confusing words, adverbs of comment.

Unit 15: Social Interaction

  • Exam tasks: Reading and writing section practice test, letter writing.
  • Language: Collocations with big, large, and great, modals of possibility.

Unit 16: Books and Language

  • Exam tasks: Matching features, T/F/NG, individual long turn.
  • Language: Non-finite clauses, noun phrases, final consonants.

Unit 17: Sleep and Health

  • Exam tasks: Matching sentence endings, speaking and writing review.
  • Language: Collocations with time, modals of obligations/prohibition.

Unit 18: Tourism

  • Exam tasks: Individual long turn, opinion essay.
  • Language: Phrasal verbs, stress of separated phrasal verbs with pronouns.

Unit 19: Technology and Transportation

  • Exam tasks: Diagram labelling, essay themes.
  • Language: Rhythm, indirect speech, unreal present and future.

Unit 20: Immigration

  • Exam tasks: Speaking and writing review.
  • Language: grammar summary , noun clauses, positions of adverbs.

Technology Requirements 

PC – Pentium III 600 MHz processor or faster, 256 MB RAM or greater (512 MB recommended), Windows 10 or higher MAC- Intel x 86 based processor, 512 MB RAM or greater (1 GB recommended), Mac – OS-X 11; Google Chrome Browser; Speakers or Headphones; Microphone; Camera or Smartphone to take digital photos; Reliable and unrestricted internet connection; comfortable using the internet.


*Much of the course content can be accessed via the Moodle App (iOS and Andriod); however students should have access to a laptop or desktop for the best learning experience.

Refund Policy

Students may request a refund within 24 hours of receiving access to their online course, provided that 10% or less of the course materials have been accessed.

A 5% administrative fee will be deducted from the total refund amount.

To request a refund, please email admissions@ciblonline.ca with your full name, course title, and reason for the request.

Refunds will be processed within 5–10 business days after approval.
